SUMMARY:De-escalation and Responding to Trauma Based Behaviours Training
DESCRIPTION:De escalation and Responding to Trauma Based Behaviours\nRegistration\nThis session will be in person at the VDC in Collins St\, Melbourne. It costs $175\, and we will email you an invoice after the session. Please check your spam folder or let us know if you don’t receive your invoice within seven days of the session. To enable us to continue providing subsidised training to the sector\, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations within seven days of the session. \nCourse Description\nThis training explores ways to understand and respond to challenging behaviours that have their origins in early trauma. Behaviours such as aggression\, withdrawal and avoidance\, substance use\, high distress and ‘help-seeking’ make engagement tricky and can be distressing and can be dangerous. Traditional behavioural approaches to de-escalation are inadequate and often make the situation worse. The techniques explored in this workshop are easy to apply to any situation\, powerful\, and fast. They stem from a sound theoretical basis and are taught by a skilled clinician who has been on the front line. \nTrainer bio\nDr Erin Holloway. PhD (Clin.Psych.)\, Post.Grad.Dip.App.Psych.\, BAppSci. M.A.P.S.\, Registered Clinical Psychology Supervisor with APHRA\nErin is a Clinical Psychologist based in Melbourne with clinical work\, training\, and research expertise. She works with individuals\, teams\, and systems and has worked across community\, non-government\, government\, and private settings for 20 years. Erin is passionate about creating safe and reparative environments for staff and service users. She supports services in implementing trauma-informed practice using innovative approaches.\nErin delivers workshops and reflective practice groups across a broad range of settings\, including mental health services\, emergency services\, research\, medical\, legal\, educational\, and private organisations. \nImportant information \n\nThis session costs $175.
