Have you secured your space at next week’s Renters’ Rights Rundown event?

Across Victoria, First Nations people continue to experience significant barriers to accessing safe, secure and affordable housing. At the same time, our latest rental fairness research highlights growing housing stress, discrimination and affordability pressures across the rental market, particularly for renters already experiencing disadvantage.

This free online session will bring together speakers from Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (VACCHO), the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (VALS) and Djirra to explore:

  • Housing as a key social determinant of health and wellbeing
  • The barriers and challenges First Nations communities face in the private rental market
  • The importance of safe, secure and culturally appropriate housing
  • How the Residential Tenancies Act can be used to support and protect First Nations renters
  • Current gaps in the rental system and opportunities for reform
  • Practical insights for frontline workers supporting First Nations renters.
