About this webinar

Early childhood educators are often among the first professionals to notice when a child may need extra support. Through daily interactions and the development of trusted relationships, these educators often observe changes in a child’s behaviour, emotions and learning; and can play a key role in supporting children’s mental health, development and overall wellbeing.

However, this work can be complex. Limited trauma-informed training, unclear roles, competing responsibilities and a lack of organisational support can make it difficult for educators to know what to do when they observe these changes.

This webinar will explore how early childhood educators can work together with mental health professionals and families to support children’s mental health and wellbeing (including those impacted by trauma). Drawing on emerging evidence, the webinar will also consider how collaboration can build educators’ confidence and wellbeing, improve educator-child interactions, and support children’s mental health, wellbeing and their ability to learn and engage.

This webinar will give you:

  • an overview of the complementary roles of early childhood educators and mental health professionals in supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing, including those impacted by trauma

  • insight into the common professional, organisational and system-level barriers that limit effective collaboration, as well as tips on how to overcome them

  • an understanding of how to build collaborative relationships to support child mental health, including the key factors that support these partnerships with professionals and families.

Target Audience

This webinar will be of interest to early childhood educators including staff and managers, as well as mental health professionals who work with children and families. This webinar is co-produced by CFCA and Emerging Minds in a series focusing on children’s mental health.
