The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) has released the long-awaited Child and Young Person MARAM Practice Guides, providing new guidance to support professionals working with children and young people affected by family violence.
The new guidance is designed to support practitioners to identify, assess and manage family violence risk, as well as identify and respond to wellbeing needs and suicide risk when working with children and young people experiencing family violence and young people using family violence. Responsibilities 1-6 and 9-10 have now been published.
The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare is working alongside Safe and Equal and No to Violence through the MARAMIS Sector Support program to support awareness, implementation and uptake of the new resources across the sector.
Services and practitioners are encouraged to explore the guidance and consider how it can inform practice, organisational policies and procedures, and approaches to family violence risk assessment and management.
To support implementation, the three peak bodies will co-convene an information drop-in sessions with Family Safety Victoria, providing an opportunity for the sector to hear directly from Family Safety Victoria about the guidance and expectations for practice. Date and time to be confirmed, please register your interest in attending here.
You are invited to submit Questions in advance for FSV to respond to during the session. Submit your question here.
Further information about implementation supports and targeted sector initiatives will be shared in the coming months.
