Gaining Entry to Rented Premises
February 11, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
$220.00When managing properties, housing workers need to gain entry to the rented premises on occasions.
This may be for the purposes of maintenance, to check on reports that the tenant has breached their lease or the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), or to conduct a routine inspection.
Tenants have a right to quiet enjoyment of their premises and the RTA sets out the way an inspection must be notified and conducted.
It is important that housing workers know how to do this correctly. On the other hand, tenants have a duty under the RTA to allow entry if they have been notified properly.
Housing workers need to know the steps they can take if this occurs.
