Federal Government rejects recommendation to create a National Homelessness Strategy

There has been 35 recommendations made from the Inquiry into Homelessness in Australia and the Morrison Government has chosen not to support the committee’s recommendation that the Australian Government, in consultation with state, territory and local governments, develop and implement a ten-year national strategy on homelessness.

The Government stated The National Housing and Homelessness Agreement (NHHA) is the current Australian
Government mechanism to deliver housing and homelessness funding to states. They believe that the current review into the NHHA is enough and will examine the effectiveness of the NHHA.  We think otherwise.
