The Legislative Council Legal and Social Issues Committee have released a report detailing the findings and recommendations of the Inquiry into Homelessness in Victoria.
The 504 page report includes 26 key findings and makes 51 recommendations about the government and community sector response to homelessness across the areas of early intervention, transitional accommodation and long-term accommodation.
Issues specific to rural Victoria are noted and well understood systemic causes of homelessness are discussed alongside new trends arising from COVID-19, while the report adds to the calls for an increase in commonwealth support payments to bridge the housing affordability gap.
Details of the report can be accessed through the shorter Summary Booklet or the full Final Report.
