Course Description
This training explores ways to understand and respond to challenging behaviours that have their origins in early trauma. Behaviours such as aggression, withdrawal and avoidance, substance use, high distress and ‘help-seeking’ make engagement tricky and can be distressing and can be dangerous. Traditional behavioural approaches to de-escalation are inadequate and often make the situation worse. The techniques explored in this workshop are easy to apply to any situation, powerful, and fast. They stem from a sound theoretical basis and are taught by a skilled clinician who has been on the front line.
